Established in 1890, Abbott’s Candies is Indiana’s oldest candy shop, known for traditional handmade caramels and chocolates made from original 19th-century recipes. Founded by William C. Abbott and carried on by his family, the business is now owned by Jay and Lynn Noel. On this tour, step inside the historic Hagerstown factory—once an 1850s Presbyterian church—and visit the caramel room in operation, where caramels are cooked in copper kettles and cut using the original “kiss cutter” from 1890.

Originally founded as Callane’s Finer Candies in 1948, the business was purchased by George and Peg Donaldson in 1966 and later renamed Donaldson’s Finer Chocolates. They more than doubled the number of recipes and are now renowned for making confections "the old-fashioned way." On this tour, step into a working kitchen where chocolates are hand dipped, barks are made on marble slabs, and a Hilliard enrober is in action. Today, their son Bob and his wife Kathy proudly continue the Donaldson's legacy as they operate the business.

Founded in 2008, J. Evelyn Confections grew through three commercial kitchens before settling into its Greenfield, Indiana location in 2012. On this tour, watch as truffles are hand dipped and decorated, caramels are enrobed, and ganache is cut, all within a streamlined setup designed to manage production flow. Along the way, discover their signature favorites including sugared nut clusters, pure butter caramels and soft crunch toffees, and learn how head chocolatier Jayne Hoadley runs an award-winning operation.
