Confectioners to Connect in Vancouver, British Columbia
Wednesday, July 13, 2016
SPRINGFIELD, MO – July 13, 2016 – Retail chocolate and candy makers, as well as their suppliers, will be traveling to Vancouver, British Columbia for an event hosted by Retail Confectioners International (RCI), a trade association that has supported the confectionery industry for nearly 100 years.
Join RCI and discover the sweet side of the beautiful coastal city of Vancouver September 21-23, 2016, while connecting and learning alongside fellow confectioners and suppliers through numerous networking opportunities, education sessions and behind-the-scenes tours of area candy shops and manufacturing facilities.
Known as a modern city on the edge of a spectacular natural playground, Vancouver offers plenty of fresh ideas and inspiration for attendees to take home and apply in their own businesses. RCI will kick off the week’s events with a thought-provoking lineup of education sessions geared toward expanding attendees’ confectionery and business knowledge. The president of Purdys Chocolatier, named one of Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures, will start with a presentation on creating and maintaining a successful corporate culture. Following, a workshop on effective communication and member-led presentations on how to incorporate automation into your manufacturing processes and how to create an amazing guest experience.
Candy makers from across the United States and Canada follow RCI events in anticipation of their behind-the-scenes tours, which will start with an optional tour day on Wednesday, September 21, where attendees will visit one of the only manufacturers of authentic Turkish Delight in North America, Bayco Confectionery, and long-time RCI member, The C Shop, located just south of the Canadian border in Blaine, Washington. On the final day of the conference, the behind-the-scenes tours will pick back up at Charlie’s Chocolate Factory, Chewters Chocolates and Purdys Chocolatier. During the tours, attendees will experience the production side of these facilities in order to gain perspective and inspire new ideas to use in their own retail stores.
“At RCI we enjoy creating event experiences that encourage the idea-sharing and generosity that is already descriptive of the confectionery industry,” says Angie Burlison, RCI’s Executive Director. “Vancouver will not only be a great place for confectioners to connect with their peers and suppliers, but also gather ideas to implement in their own businesses.”
Registration for RCI’s fall regional event is open online at retailconfectioners.org/events. Additional event details such as schedule, registration and hotel information may also be found there.
