RCI’s 2016 Bornhofft Award Goes to Gail Schippman

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – June 22, 2016 - Retail Confectioners International, a trade association serving the chocolate and confectionery industry, recently awarded the 2016 Henry J. Bornhofft Memorial Award at their Annual Convention. Gail Schippman, Senior Editor for the Manufacturing Confectioner (MC), was the honored recipient.

Gail joined the confectionery industry in 1995 after being hired as the Production Editor for the Manufacturing Confectioner. “From the beginning, Gail made a strong contribution to MC, always representing the company well – both professionally and personally,” says Michael Allured, Publisher for Manufacturing Confectioner. Now, as Senior Editor, Gail represents the Manufacturing Confectioner both at home and abroad at many industry functions.

Gail’s dedication to the industry has been evident over her years of service to Retail Confectioners International (RCI), serving on the board of directors from 2010 to 2013 and as the staff relations chair from 2011-2015, providing support to RCI staff and the board of directors. In 2013, Gail lead the search committee, recruiting RCI’s current executive director, Angie Burlison.

Due to her dedication to the industry and RCI’s goals, the board of directors felt she was the perfect choice for this honor. "Gail has been a wonderful supporter of the confectionery industry, and has worked tirelessly behind the scenes on many projects. Her service hasn’t gone unnoticed, though, and we were privileged to present her with this award recognizing her many contributions," says Brian Pelletier, Kakao Chocolate, 2015-2016 RCI president of the board.

“It is truly an honor to be selected for this award by my peers and included in such a prestigious group of past recipients,” says Schippman.

Each year, the RCI board of directors selects a member of the confectionery industry to receive the Henry J. Bornhofft Memorial Award at the annual convention in June. The recipient is a stand-out supplier member, who has exhibited many years of outstanding leadership, loyalty, friendship and has made numerous contributions to the confectionery industry.
