RCI's 2016 Convention Provides Sweet Education
Monday, April 25, 2016
SPRINGFIELD, MO – April 26, 2016 – Today’s work force consists of four distinct generations operating side-by-side. Many businesses that encounter challenges with a generation gap in the workplace, learn the hard way that one management style does not fit all. At Retail Confectioners International’s (RCI) Annual Convention & Industry Expo, keynote speaker, Matt Havens will share immediate, applicable strategies for closing the gap in “Us vs. Them,” an education session designed to teach confectioners how to understand, recognize and resolve generational issues facing their businesses. The effect of the generation gap on business is just one of the topics presented during the annual event hosted in Indianapolis, Indiana June 20-24, 2016.
Education is a fundamental component to the attendee experience at RCI’s Annual Convention & Industry Expo. “As an association, we exist to help retail confectioners succeed and this event is one of the ways we do that,” says Angie Burlison, RCI Executive Director. “Through formal education sessions, as well as, the confectionery suppliers’ expo and store tours, we provide a comprehensive and relevant educational experience for small business owners both established and new to the industry.”
In addition to addressing the generation gap, education session topics at the convention include the following:
- Running Your Business From Your Phone, presented by Brian Pelletier, Kakao Chocolate
- Caramel: A Confectioner’s Best Friend, presented by Joe Sofia, Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate and Dennis Witzel, Dennis Witzel Sales & Consulting
- Growing Your Business Through Innovation, presented by Randy Good, Good’s Candy Shop
Education sessions will be presented on Tuesday, June 21 and Wednesday, June 22 at The Westin Indianapolis. While the event is hosted by RCI, all confectionery professionals are invited to attend. A variety of ticket packages are available, giving attendees the option to create an experience that fits their schedule and budget. RCI offers an education package for those looking to focus on the expo and education only.
