WATERBURY-- A boot camp began just off Chase Parkway in Waterbury this week, but not just any boot camp. This boot camp doesn't include the rigorous calisthenics or exhausting reps with heavy weights. No, this boot camp includes chocolate.
Fascia's Chocolates is hosting the four day chocolate boot camp, which is organized by the Retail Confectioners International. The event brings in candy makers and aspiring chocolatiers from across the country.
"You learn everything from what is chocolate to where does it come from to getting hands on, there is some classroom too," said Angie Burlison, the executive director from Retail Confectioners International.
From tempering skills to molding and designing, the teachers showed the 27 students the tricks of the chocolate trade.
"We have a collection of instructors with over 150 years experience," said Joe Sofia, who was visiting Connecticut as a boot camp instructor from Minneapolis. "People love chocolate and they are always going to love chocolate."
