SPRINGFIELD, MO – March 10, 2016 – Registration has opened for Retail Confectioners International’s (RCI) Annual Convention and Industry Expo to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana June 20-24, 2016.
Beginning with an industry suppliers’ expo, attendees can expect a week full of networking, education and behind-the-scenes tours. Starting at 10:00 am June 21 and 22, candy makers will have the chance to walk the expo floor. “We are excited for attendees to meet face to face with suppliers of equipment, packaging, ingredients and more,” says Angie Burlison, RCI Executive Director. “Our industry expo is a great opportunity for candy makers to not only connect with suppliers, but also see, touch and, in some cases, taste new products.”
Education is also an integral part of the convention experience. Attendees will be welcomed by an opening session with keynote speaker Matt Havens, who will engage attendees with ways to recognize and resolve the generational gap in their workplace. Additional education sessions will include topics such as; managing a business from a smart phone, understanding everything there is to know about caramel and discovering the untapped sales potential in your business.
One of the most popular components of RCI events is the behind-the-scenes tours, which take place on the final two days of the week. This June, RCI tours will include Abbott’s Candy Shop, The Best Chocolates in Town, Donaldson’s Finer Chocolates, Goat Milk Stuff, Good’s Candy Shop and Schimpff’s Confectionery. Attendees will have the opportunity to see the production side of these facilities in order to gain perspective and inspire new ideas to use in their own retail stores. In addition to touring Schimpff’s Confectionery in Jeffersonville, Indiana, confectioners are invited to join RCI in recognizing long-time members, Warren and Jill Schimpff, in celebration of their business’ 125th anniversary.
Registration for the convention and expo is open on the RCI website, retailconfectioners.org/annual. With new ticket packages available this year, attendees can customize their experience to match both their schedule and budget.
